Otto Orf and Community Celebrities To Play a Charity Game of Soccer with Power Soccer and Adaptive Sports Ohio

Akron, OH: The Adaptive Sports Program of Ohio (ASPO) in collaboration with HandsOnSports Foundation (HOSF)  is hosting a Power Soccer Celebrity Game, Wednesday, November 12, 2014 from 6:30pm-8:00pm at the Buchtel Middle School at 1040 Copley Road in Akron, Ohio.  Doors open at 6;30pm and the game starts at 7:00pm.

Ohio celebrities will play against the ASPO Force soccer team in power wheelchairs.  The purpose of the event is to raise awareness and promote the capabilities of adaptive sports players.  Celebrities expected include: John Denning – WNIR 100.1 Talk of Akron Daytime Radio Host, Otto Orf – Cleveland Crunch, Former US National Futsal Team, Joe Charboneau – Cleveland Indians, 1980 AL Rookie of the Year, HGTV’s Disasters, Inc., Hector Marinaro – Cleveland Crunch all time goals and scoring leader indoor soccer history, and Keith Tozer -- US Futsal National Team Coach, winningest coach in US soccer history.

“I am honored to participate in this event and it brings an awareness of how anyone can play soccer.  The HandsOnSports Foundation is dedicated to our mission of enabling every child to play any sport.  This event ties our mission to an exceptionally talented group of athletes and celebrates their ability to overcome barriers and play soccer,” said Otto Orf, founder and executive director of HandsOnSports Foundation.

Admission is $5 per person and any child under the age of 10 enters for free.  Tickets will be available at the door.  A player Meet-and-Greet will be held immediately following the event at Bricco’s Restaurant at 1 West Exchange St. in Akron, Ohio.

ABOUT Power Soccer: it is the first competitive sport designed specifically for power wheelchair users. Played on an indoor regulation size basketball court, with a 13 inch soccer ball, with similar rules as typical soccer.
